Pioneer Offers Tahoe Solar Legacy

Solar Wind Works

Truckee, CA - (September 4, 2017) - Chris Worcester began his adventure of living off the grid in 1977.  Like other solar pioneers, he found that resources for solar equipment and training were meager, leaving ample room for innovation by necessity. Chris derived inspiration from the likes of David Katz, John Schaefer, Richard Perez and others.

Now, 40 years later, his original pair of 33w solar panels still provide the electricity for his home, which has grown from one room to an extraordinary three story home with an attached passive solar greenhouse.

In 1997 Chris was seriously injured while out on a Nordic Search and Rescue mission.  Multiple surgeries later Chris used his recuperation period to begin piecing together a vocational rehab program for solar design and installation.  In 1999 he officially launched his business, Solar Wind Works.

18 years and 700+ clients later, Chris is now preparing for a needed shift into semi-retirement.  He has listed his home and 5.7 acre property with a local Realtor, and is offering his company, Solar Wind Works, for sale.  Anyone wishing more information about his beautiful off grid home (30 minutes from Lake Tahoe) and/or Solar Wind Works is invited to email him at
