NABCEP PV Associate Level Prep Course
Please Note: For those that qualify the cost of this course is covered by grant funding through
Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation. Only incumbent workers can apply for the grant
Description: Intensive 30 hour course designed to prepare individuals with basic level of
electrical knowledge and general understanding of photovoltaics for the North American Board of
Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) PV Associate Level exam. The class will cover the Learning
Objectives as provided by NABCEP with the NABCEP Associate Level examination. A certificate of
completion for PV Associate Level Prep Course will be granted to those who successfully participate
in the course and pass the two hour, 60 question exam. Due to the amount of information to be
covered, classes will be limited in size. Class information will be compact and fast paced. This
course teaches the fundamentals of photovoltaic systems and design.
Prerequisites include: Understanding of general electrical terms and concepts (voltage, amperage,
difference between power and energy).
The instructor: Jeff Gilbert is President of Azimuth Solar LLC, a leading mid-Atlantic renewa- ble
energy training provider and program developer. He brings over 23 years of experience in the
renewable energy industry and has been NABCEP certified for both PV and solar thermal.

IEC is a national electrical contractor trade association that provides apprenticeship training and
contractor education for the electrical and communication industry. Our membership is comprised of
established residential, commercial, industrial electrical contractors, electrical distributors,
manufacturers, and educational institutions such as community colleges. IEC-Chesapeake works with
local and state authorities for electrical code compliance and workforce development. To assist in
the development of the workforce we additionally work with students in grades K-12, community
colleges and community and faith-based organizations. IEC-Chesapeake is the Mid-Atlantic chapter of
IEC that serves DC, Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.
