Charleston, SC- The National Park Service has selected Hannah Solar Government Services (HSGS), out of Charleston, SC, to perform preventative maintenance services on various arrays totaling 672 kilowatts (kW) located at the El Portal Maintenance Complex in California’s Yosemite National Park. The systems were built in 2011 and were, at the time, the largest solar project the National Park Service had ever built.

HSGS will inspect the systems, test the performance of each array, and wash the solar panels which may have collected dust and pollen over the years. The solar panels are warrantied for 25 years from the date of installation and even have an expected life of 40 years. The National Park Service recognized that the small expense to maintain and clean their solar energy systems would maximize performance and energy savings long into the future.

CEO of HSGS, Colonel (Ret) Dave McNeil commented, “We look forward to working with the National Park Service at Yosemite and we are excited to help them realize maximum savings from their existing solar PV systems.”

Looking for qualified solar companies to complete the work, the National Park Service set the contract aside for only small businesses. HSGS is a service disabled veteran owned small business (SDVOSB) specializing in the design, installation, and maintenance of solar PV energy systems. Serving the government, commercial/industrial, and utility marketplaces, HSGS’s breadth of experience includes projects that span the continental United States as well as overseas.
