| YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO — The Solar FlexRack, a product of Northern States Metals, has been selected to provide rack systems for a major solar energy project in San Antonio, Texas that will begin this spring.
The 16-megawatt Blue Wing Solar Project is projected to generate over 25,000 megawatt hours of electricity each year, supplying electricity to 1,800 homes annually.
Use of Northern States Metals’ Solar FlexRack, which has revolutionized rack systems for solar module installations in North America, will permit substantial labor cost savings for this installation.
The Solar FlexRack, which is certified to wind/snow loads, features a unique unfolding design that enables a three-man crew to install each rack to a ground post in less than three minutes. Comparable systems from other manufacturers require between five and eight laborers and take between 30 and 60 minutes to install.
The Blue Wing Solar Project will require 214,500 First Solar photovoltaic modules. It is being developed by Duke Energy Corporation, which purchased the 16 megawatt Blue Wing Solar Project from Boulder, Colorado-based Juwi Solar Inc. This is Juwi Solar Inc.’s largest North American project to date. |
